Gus Van Sant, 1997 (125 mins, Cert. 15)
On the inner city streets of Boston, Will Hunting, a troubled young
man with an outstanding mathematical brain, wrestles with how to use
his talents and remain loyal to his working class friends and
community. Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Minnie Driver
star in this moving and inspiring tale about friendship, committment
and love.

Robin Williams is thankfully in serious acting mode for this film.
Though not 100% convincing, his performance as a slightly eccentric
therapist certainly adds to rather than detracting from this
heart-warming and, at times, very funny story. The violent
behaviour and language of the South Boston setting gradually give
way to a more thoughtful internal focus as Will Hunting struggles to
determine what is the Right Thing for him to do. A involving story,
told with solid craftmanship and a light, though sure touch.
