Kenneth Brannagh, 1996 (241 mins, Cert. PG)
Kenneth Brannagh's much awaited film of Shakespeare's immortal story of murder,
intrigue, madness and despair. Brannagh has assembled a magnificent cast
including Kate Winslet (Ophelia), Derek Jacobi (Claudius), Julie Christie
(Gertrude) and Richard Briers (Polonius), and has courageously brought the full
text to the screen in a vigorous and spectacular interpretation. The film is
enriched by glistening photography and delightful cameo appearances from
Charlton Heston, Robin Williams, Jack Lemon, Gerard Depardieu and Sir John
Gielgud.
